During demultiplexing & clarification of security videos, we work with both analog (VHS) and digital security systems. A multiplexed video system is one that uses multiple cameras to record at the same time. They feed through a switching system called a multiplexer. This switch rotates through the various camera views and typically records onto a single video tape, a hard drive file, or a DVD storage system. These security surveillance videos are recorded at time laps speed, using 24 hours in length. When viewing VHS video tapes, for example, you must watch the multiplexed tape on a standard VCR and the multiple scenes rotate by a warp speed. In order to enable the viewer to see and understand the evidence, our analysts separate the camera views and slow the recording so that each camera view can be seen continuously and at as close to real time as possible. Our analysts are able to enhance and clarify video recordings in order to fairly present evidence that was difficult to determine in the raw footage.
